Cost of Living Grant

Owing to the huge demand for the cost-of-living grants launched last week, we have now closed the application process. We have limited funds for the program and the level of registrations has exceeded the funding available. We are now in the process of processing registrations. We will be in touch with everyone who has registered an account to update you on whether you have been successful in securing a grant. Please bear with us as we work our way through applications and registrations, successful applicants will be notified in April.

Please refer to our cost-of-living hub to see what other support is available here.

The cost-of-living crisis has seen rising energy, fuel, and grocery prices placing an additional financial burden on our community.

In response to this, and thanks to the generosity of the Patrick family, MDUK is currently able to offer a limited-time cost-of-living grant to people living with a muscle-wasting or weakening condition.

The grants will be a one-time payment in the form of a supermarket voucher, at a value of £150, and are limited to one per household.

Applications can be made online. To apply for the grant, register to set up an account. This will e-mail you a password to complete the application process.

You can find our application process instructions here. Please note that this is now closed.

Along with a short application form, applicants will need to provide confirmation of diagnosis for the person living with a muscle-wasting or weakening condition. Examples of the confirmation we can accept include;

  • Clinical letter
  • GP letter

We do not require any financial information. If you are living with a muscle-wasting or weakening condition and are feeling the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, you are eligible to apply for a grant.

Applications will be open from 27 March to 6 April and we will aim to distribute vouchers within two weeks after this date.

Please note that we have a limited fund available for this programme and only a submission of an application including confirmation of diagnosis of a muscle wasting or weakening condition will be accepted. We will close  to new applications if we exceed the amount available before the closing date.

Please sign up to our newsletter and we will provide you with regular news updates on Muscular Dystrophy UK and a link to cost-of-living application page when grants open or contact us directly on costofliving@musculardystrophyuk.org work for further information.
