Host your own Christmas concert

Share the magic of Christmas for MDUK by hosting your own Christmas songs service in your local community.

Throughout the festive period, people all over the country will be raising their voices to raise all-important funds for MDUK.

This year, we were delighted to announce the 10th new treatment for various muscle-wasting conditions. Luca, a little boy with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, was one of the children to benefit from one of these treatments.

By hosting a Spirit of Christmas event, you can bring hope to more people like Luca by helping us fund more leading scientific research into new treatments, and ultimately a cure, for all muscle-wasting conditions.

If you would like to host an event, please email your Regional Development Manager at events@musculardystrophyuk.org and include your postcode in your email.

What’s Spirit of Christmas?

Spirit of Christmas is a magical community event held at your local church or community hall. These events happen all across the country, and involve a simple service of Christmas songs, chosen readings, and lighting of candles for a moment of reflection.

You can choose to hold an intimate ticketed Christmas event for close family and friends, or make it more elaborate by inviting local VIPs such as the mayor, your local councillor or MP, and any business owners who may be interested.

Your Regional Development Manager will be there to help you with every step of the planning.

You can also get involved by tuning in to our Official Spirit of Christmas Livestream. Join our supporters in Northern Ireland and donate towards making this a magical Christmas for all those living with muscle-wasting conditions.

How to make your event truly magical

We’ve found this event works best held as close to Christmas as possible so that people are full of the Christmas spirit and willing to buy a ticket.

This type of event appeals to everyone from friends and family, people in your community, local schools and those simply looking to celebrate Christmas with carol services.

You can also promote your event through social media, posters and press releases to help sell tickets.

Your Regional Development Manager can advise on how best to publicise your event and share resources with you to assist in this.
