Sarah Rennie says why she is taking part in the KIltwalk this year

Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity close to my heart, I first heard of this charity several years ago when it supported mums rare muscle wasting condition.

I sadly lost my mum with a condition called congenital myasthenia dot 7 mutation, this used to be called the 'raggy doll illness'. Mum was the strongest lady I ever knew, and nothing ever fazed her, some days were a lot more difficult, but she was a fighter and strong willed, unfortunately, mums condition deteriorated, and she sadly lost her battle 5 years ago in July 2017.

Muscular Dystrophy UK has been supporting research into cures and treatments for muscle wasting conditions like mums but needs people like me to fundraise, so they are able to continue the work they are doing.

Taking part in the Kiltwalk, which for me is one of the most Scottish things you could do as being Scottish and the opportunity to wear a kilt for a charity that's close to me and my family, is just an amazing opportunity and an honour.

Any fundraising you do will be fantastic, but how about this boost? Thanks to their huge generosity, the Hunter Foundation will boost every pound you raise by 50 percent (so, for example, if you raise £100, the Hunter Foundation will boost this to £150 – with no extra effort from you!). To qualify for this boost, you must set up your online fundraising page during the Kiltwalk registration process, you can do this once you have successfully got a code through us.

To get your code you need to register your interest in one of the Kiltwalks, and we’ll get in touch with further details. Once we have been in touch we will send you your sign up code to ensure your money is matched and we will also send you your very own ‘stand-out-from-the-crowd’ #TeamOrange running vest to wear on the day - It also goes well with a kilt, should you choose to wear one!

We are here to support you every step of the way to help you reach your fundraising goals, and can share fundraising hints and tips with you too!
