In addition to their general neurological and neurosurgical services, the department provides 24-hour emergency care and, as QEHB is a major trauma centre, the specialists work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering urgent and complex care.

The regional centre has eight full-time consultant neurologists and more than 20 other consultants, plus clinical nurse specialists.

Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham has a dedicated neuromuscular clinic as well as a respiratory and cardiology failure clinics.

How to access the service

To access the service a patient must be referred by either a GP or a consultant.

Dr Yusuf A Rajabally

Consultant Neurologist

Doctor Rajabally qualified and trained in neurology in France, obtaining an MD on genetic neuropathies in 1997. Consultant in Leicester since 2001, running a neuromuscular clinic and involved in clinical research in inflammatory and other acquired neuropathies.

Dr Saiju Jacob

Consultant Neurologist

Doctor Jacob carried out his neurology training in London and the West Midlands, with doctoral research and fellowship at Oxford. His special interests include neuromuscular and neuroimmunology disorders, with weekly clinics for each.

Dr Nicholas Davies

Consultant Neurologist

Doctor Davies trained in Birmingham and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. Specialist interests include: Neuromuscular disorders, metabolic diseases and ion channel disorders.

Dr Venkataramanan Srinivasan

Consultant Neurologist

Dr Hardev Pall is a clinical neurologist with an interest in teaching and research. He graduated from Bristol University in 1979 and had postgraduate training in Birmingham, London and Cambridge. Clinical interests in movement and motor neuron disorders. Has clinics for movement disorders and patients for deep brain stimulation surgery.
