The neuromuscular service for the west of Scotland is based at Yorkhill, The Royal Hospital for Children.

The Royal Hospital for Children has 266 inpatient beds, 12 day case beds, and handles approximately 90,000 out-patients, 15,000 in-patients, 7,300 day cases and 35,000 A&E attendances every year.

The West of Scotland Paediatric neuromuscular service is supported by the Scottish Muscle Network. The Scottish Muscle Network (SMN) is a national managed clinical network (NMCN) originally established in 1998 with charitable funding from the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. The SMN is now funded by NHS National Services Division (NSD).

How to access the service

Patients can be referred to the service by a consultant or GP.

Wilma has been employed as a Specialist Neuromuscular Advisor since July 2008. Wilma works closely with the Scottish Muscle Network for Greater Glasgow & Clyde Area, helping to promote and develop neuromuscular services across the West of Scotland.
