MDUK President Gabby Logan to host the charity’s 10th Anniversary Celebrity Sports Quiz

Some of Britain’s most famous sports stars will join our President, Gabby Logan, at Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday 4 November for our 10th Anniversary Celebrity Sports Quiz

The stunning line-up includes stars Amy Williams MBE, Charlie Hodgson, David Flatman, Derek Redmond, Graham Onions, Kelly Sotherton MBE, Martin Offiah MBE, Monty Panesar, Pat Nevin, Robin Cousins, Rory Underwood MBE DL, Ryan Sidebottom and Vicky Thornley. They will join guests in the Nursery Pavilion for an evening of razor-sharp banter, challenging sports questions and money-can’t-buy auction items – and all for a great cause.

Comedian and test match statistician, Andy Zaltzman, will be the Master of Ceremonies and Gabby will be the quizmaster, challenging the guests and celebrities alike to see who will take away this year’s coveted Celebrity Sports Quiz title.

Gabby Logan said,

As MDUK’s President, I am really excited about being quizmaster for a stunning line-up of my sports colleagues at this year’s Celebrity Sports Quiz.

This will be my first Celebrity Sports Quiz. I’m looking forward to an evening of brilliant fun and some serious fundraising for MDUK.

Last year’s Celebrity Sports Quiz was a virtual event and raised a fantastic £1million.  Every penny raised at these glittering events is used to fund groundbreaking research, to support independent living, or for our care and support services, including the helpline. All to support the 70,000 adults and children in the UK who live with one of over 60 rare, or ultra-rare muscle-wasting conditions.

This year’s Anniversary event will also include a special, pre-reception nets session with Graham Onions, Monty Panesar and Ryan Sidebottom. There will also be tours of Lord’s Cricket Ground, before a Fever Tree drinks reception, a three-course dinner, sports quiz, and an auction.

Olympic rower, Vicky Thornley, said,

I am supporting the charity again, as it is such an important cause to me because I have a friend whose son has muscular dystrophy. I have a small idea of how challenging these conditions are. Any help for families in their position is so important. The quiz last time was just a really fun night with a great group of people.”
England cricketer, Monty Panesar, said, “It’s been an honour to attend the Celebrity Sports Quiz for the past two years. It is rare that a charity event can raise this much money, and continue to be brilliant fun, year after year.

MDUK CEO, Catherine Woodhead, said,

Our flagship events are now back in force for 2021. And there is no more glamorous and fun event than our Celebrity Sports Quiz. Thank you to everyone who is attending our 10th Anniversary event, and contributing to fund our vital work. We hope you enjoy a fabulous evening at this iconic sporting venue.
